Album of Today: The Middle East - I Want That You...
Based on first listen, it’s lacking the instrumentation, haunting harmonies and song escalation that their 2009 EP was saturated with. I’m not going to share one of their new songs until I know which is worth it. Below is “Blood” from The Recordings of The Middle East EP.  The Middle East - Blood by wereofftherails

Video of Today: Greg Holden- "Bar On A"
Greg Holden’s video for “Bar On A” has been appropriately released the morning after Cinco de Mayo. I kind of wish I was at this party. Seems like everyone else was! I feel like the Los Angeles singer/songwriter scene should throw a West Coast version…

Song of Today: Airborne Toxic Event - Changing
I came across this video the other night without even realizing Airborne Toxic Event had a new album coming. I missed that memo somewhere along the way. I was a big fan of their last self titled record and I’m really looking forward to the next one- All At Once is to be released April 26 on Island Def Jam.  I need to stop listening to this song (slash watching this video). It’s going...

A couple songs into Nicole Atkin’s Mondo Amore on Spinner.com and totally into this one. Fun and upbeat yet broken. Reminds me a lot of Grace Potter & the Nocturnals. That’s not a bad thing…  Cry Cry Cry by Nicole Atkins

Photo taken at Runyon Canyon last weekend. I came across this little photo op once I reached the top of the hill. It was foggy, cold and beautiful. I have no idea what this song is about, but it was a perfect soundtrack for the setting at the time. I love this album.

OK, I didn’t go to Coachella this year… But I still felt quite nostalgic from my experience in 2009. This video was just posted on Coachella’s Official site… I’m amped for 2011 already… assuming they’ve fixed a few key issues from last year… ahem, entrance and wristband lines…

Florence was the very first post I made on this blog. I was unsure of her at first, but just days after that initial post I fell in love with her American debut album Lungs. Still very much a big fan. Above is the video for her contribution to the Twilight soundtrack: “Heavy In Your Arms”. I don’t find it as stylistically stimulating as “Dog Days Are Over” - but...
